Radosław Wieczorek, "Approaches to fragmentation with shattering" Short abstract: Fragmentation appears in many physical processes, such as grinding, dissolving, droplet breakup, etc. If the breakup is fast for small particles, the phenomenon called shattering, i.e. the loss of mass into dust, may occur. Fragmentation is mathematically described with various methods both stochastic and deterministic. The aim of the talk is to present the individual-based fragmentation model with infinitely many particles in the relation to other mathematical approaches to fragmentation in which shattering arises. |
